SCSD Educational Foundation Sponsors Golf Tournament

The Syracuse City School District Educational Foundation is busy preparing for its 9th annual golf tournament, which will benefit the foundation’s STEM grants program.

The tournament will be Monday, Sept. 24, 2012 at the Pompey Club, 7200 Hamilton Road in Pompey. The cost is $175 per golfer or $700 for a foursome. The fees include lunch, a Steak Bake dinner, greens fees and a cart. The tournament will be done in Captain & Crew format with lunch at 11:30 and a shotgun start at 12:30. Dinner begins around 6 p.m. Golfers may have guests at the dinner for an additional cost of $50 per person.

Proceeds from the tournament will provide funds for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math programs in the Syracuse City Schools. The SCSD Educational Foundation recognizes that improving the science, technology, engineering and math skills of our students is a major focus of the district. The group hopes to raise $75,000 through the golf tournament.

Schools must submit grant applications for consideration to the SCSD Educational Foundation. An Educational Foundation Grants Committee then reviews the applications and gives awards of up to a maximum of $7,500.
