“31 Teachers, 31 Days” Nominations to Close February 29, 2012

The Syracuse City School District and Y94FM have launched the “31 Teachers, 31 Days” program to honor exceptional teachers in the district who make a difference in the lives of their students, everyday. Teachers may not have the cape or flashy lights, but they rise to superhero challenges – and deserve to be recognized. Anyone that interacts with a teacher – a community member, parent, student, administrator, or even another educator – can nominate a “super teacher” now through February 29th at Y94 FM's Website

A selection committee consisting of members from the Syracuse Teachers Association and Say Yes to Education will meet in March to review the nominations and choose the top 31 teachers. Then, on each of the 31 days of May, an outstanding teacher in the Syracuse City School District will be recognized by Y94FM both online and on air. At Y94 FM's Website, there will be a calendar feature and the teacher of the day will be posted along with a photo and a brief bio. Then, all 31 teachers will enjoy a special teachers’ night out event, where they will be individually honored for their contributions.

“Y94FM and our parent company, Clear Channel Media and Entertainment, has had a long-standing commitment to teachers and the Syracuse City School District. Nothing is more important to our youth than access to a quality education – and that wouldn’t be possible without dedicated teachers like the ones who will be honored during 31 Teachers, 31 Days,” said Joel Delmonico, Clear Channel Vice President and Regional Market Manager.

31 Teachers, 31 Days is the result of collaborative efforts between SCSD, Y94FM, Syracuse Teachers Association, Syracuse 20/20, Say Yes to Education and Wegmans. Each participating organization has made a strong commitment to education and wanted to celebrate teachers for their positive influence on our community’s students.
