Elementary is committed to developing the whole child, which includes
providing community-based partnerships and opportunities for all families
to become actively involved in every aspect of their child's education.
Welcome to Dr. King Elementary School!!!
Where have the first three months of the school year gone? As the saying goes, "Time flies when you are having fun!" That's exactly what's going on at Dr. King Elementary as we look to provide students with a rigorous curriculum through the implementation of the New York State Common Core Learning Standards (CCLS) and the Pearson "Reading Street" and "Envision Math" programs.
It is truly an honor and a pleasure to serve the students, parents and staff of Dr. King Elementary during the 2012 -2013 school year. My passion and persistence to provide all children with an opportunity to learn in a safe and nurturing environment will never waver. My philosophy is that all children can learn and will learn when they are educated in a safe and nurturing environment, receive high-quality rigorous standards-based instruction and are taught by best and the brightest teachers.
Finally, children learn best when their parents partner with teachers and school administrators to ensure that what is being taught at school is supported and fostered in the home. It truly takes a village to raise a child!
Additional information regarding the 2013 Grades 3-8 ELA/Mathematics Tests can be found in the 2013 Test Guides posted at http://engageny.org/resource/test-guides-for-english-language-arts-and-m.... I strongly urge parents to access this website to become more familiar with how your child will be tested in the spring.
