Components of Literacy Implementation in Preschool

Instructional design includes large group, small group, individual and center learning opportunities framed within thematic units inclusive of the following four major components of early literacy:
 

Oral Language
(listening and speaking builds comprehension and fluency)

Opening Routines: attendance, calendar, daily agendas.  Interactive read alouds, fairy tales, nursery rhymes, poetry, language games, vocabulary development, concept development, centers, dramatic play, conversations (adult/child, child/child), science and social studies theme related activities.
