Dr. Edwin E. Weeks Jr. Elementary School is a diverse school with students who come from twenty-six different countries. Dr. Weeks has led the Syracuse City School District in scores on the fourth grade English Language Arts and Mathematics. The school also is the only school in New York State to share its physical space with a community center, The Syracuse Northeast Community Center. The school and Community Center have collaborated on a number of programs, from after school enrichment to helping the Dr. Weeks school community with recreational and nutritional care. Dr. Weeks also has an on site medical clinic which caters to the students and parents who go there.

Dr. Weeks is a Community of Caring school, focusing efforts on the development of the character traits of trust, family community, caring and responsibility.
